Church team expands - again! - 12th Sep '07

Just after employing their first Parish Administrator the Churches of St John’s Peasedown and St Julian’s Wellow have expanded to take on their first ever Children’s Worker.

Designed to work with the local schools and run Children’s activities in both Churches, the role has been taken on by Peasedown resident and Bath Spa University student – Sarah Warren.

Commenting on her new role, Sarah said:

“In the past I’ve worked on a range of projects with children from working with disaffected young people in to running outreach events with Bath City Church at the Forum. When I heard that Peasedown and Wellow Parish Churches were looking for a Children’s Worker I jumped at the chance. The children of these villages have so much potential and I’m very much looking forward to working with them, and the Church, to realise it.”

Sarah’s role will involve going into the local schools to lead assemblies, working with other Churches such as the Bath Road Methodist’s at their weekly Kidzone, and running Soul Kids – the children’s equivalent of Soul Food at St John’s on a Sunday afternoon.

Matthew Street, the Vicar of the Parish Churches in Peasedown and Wellow, said:

“One of the key functions of any Church should be to cater for and to all members of the community. In the Churches I lead children are just as important as everyone else. They are, after all, the leaders of tomorrow. By employing our own Children’s Worker we are making a huge investment in the future of our Church and the wider community.”
